The Ecumenical Patriarch was enchanted by Ancient Nessebar The municipality and Bartholomew I exchange gifts as a token of mutual respect His All Holiness Bartholomew I, head of Constantinople patriarchate, was enchanted by the beauty of the ancient churches of Nessebar. The patriarch paid a visit to Nessebar municipality. He was officially greeted by the mayor Nikolai Dimitrov and Blagoi Filipov, the chairman of the municipal council, outside the gates of the ancient town. The guest of honour was accompanied by Dimitar Atanasov, archon of the Oecumenical patriarchate, the metropolitan of Sliven Yoanikii, minister Bozhidar Dimitrov, Dinko and Yordan Dinev brothers.
Mr. Niholai Dimitrov, mayor of Nessebar municipality was awarded the national prize “Social services Manager for Year 2009” at a ceremony in Sofia. The prestige distinction was given to him by Ms. Ginka Chavdarova, executive director of the National union of the municipalities in Bulgaria. “Social policy reflects the maturity of civil society. With our social activity my team and I try to make Nessebar a beautiful place to live as it has been through its three thousand two hundred and twenty-year old history. I am glad you have acknowledged our efforts and today I receive a prize for them”, were the words of Mr. Dimitrov.
