Nessebar municipal council consists of 21 members who represent different local and national political parties and coalitions.

Mr. Blagoi Philipov was elected chairman of the municipal council with one consent. He represents the numerous group in the local parliament, that of More which is a coalition between the National Movement Simeon II and the Green Party.

The municipal council sits one a month to discuss and vote decisions and regulations on local matters. Every issue is considered before hand by the relative commission.

According to article 16, paragraph 1 of the Regulation on the organization and the activity of the municipal council, its commissions and interrelations with the municipal administration, the sitting commissions of Nessebar municipal council are as follows:

1. Commission on legality, public order, transport and control on the implementation of the decisions of the Municipal council.

2. Commission on budget, finance and European funds.

3. Commission on infrastructure and territorial development.

4. Commission on public ownership, privatization and post privatization monitoring.

5. Commission on education, culture, healthcare and ecclesiastical matters.

6. Commission on tourism, sport, youth and social activities.

7. Commission on agriculture, reserve, forestry and ecology.

Every commission comprises five members.
